Programs We Created

Sherman Eagleton attributes the many successes to the outstanding men and women in his department. They are truly the backbone of this agency and he is blessed to call them his Precinct 3 Family!

Sherman Eagleton created the Crime Interdiction Unit to focus on heavy crime areas and organized crime. The CIU Division has made over 330 arrests connected with criminal activity, some being violent parole violators, recovered over 100 stolen vehicles, hundreds of pounds of meth, cocaine, heroin, marijuana and pills. They have also confiscated over 60 illegal firearms off the street, cleared 106 wanted parole warrants, and busted multiple theft rings.

A safe haven for seniors. Sherman Eagleton created the RUOK “Are You Ok?” Program for senior citizens who live alone. And the “CASA” Program to cater to the needs of our Spanish speaking seniors in our Hispanic community. Program coordinators connect with seniors on a daily basis to check their welfare. Both programs combined cater to the needs of nearly 400 seniors, not only in Precinct 3, but in all of Harris County, and that number grows monthly.

With the assistance of the LESO program (military surplus that is gifted to law enforcement), Constable Eagleton created the Emergency Management Response Team. The department has acquired 11 Humvees, 3 ½ ton trucks, 2 Hemtt trucks, 10 boats, an MRAP, and a mobile command station. All of this was done at no cost to the taxpayers. Precinct 3 is ready to deploy at any minute!

Environmental crimes plague Precinct 3 as they do most communities. This is why we created the Environmental Crimes Unit to target unsightly dumping areas and have installed surveillance cameras to catch criminals in the act. After they are identified, the individuals are cited, made to clean up the debris and show proof of proper disposal.
